Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This was my first tutoring session with the student. We went through some of his homework and solved all the questions he had. I made sure to explain key fundamental knowledge about this class to make sure that he could do similar types of problems."
"This was our first session together and immediately I could tell the student is extremely bright and well-prepared for this course. We covered the format of the standard normal curve and in doing a couple of practice problems, he discovered his confusion over finding areas to the right or left of a value (especially given that the table in his book only gives areas to the left). We discussed how his math skills are far beyond what is needed for this course, but that he might think of it more as a social studies course than a math course, and in so doing, really work on formatting complete responses, with well-worded explanations, beyond just doing the math. He should do extremely well in AP Stats, and I look forward to working with him further!"
"This was our first session together, so we spent some time diagnosing which calculus concepts we should cover. We started solidifying the process of taking derivatives and covered some basic integration techniques. We will continue integration next session, and from there will work into applications of integration which comprises the bulk of Calculus 2. The student decided he'd like to meet 3 times per week to start and reduce the frequency as he gets caught up."
"This was our first session, and it was a spur of the moment session for a test the student had tomorrow. The session went well, and I am glad that I got to meet and know him. I do not know if this was a one time session or if it was something that he would like to continue in the future, but I told him that I would be more than happy to help him in the future. It went well."
"This was our first session. The student wanted to review some questions from prior chapters. We went over a lot of items. His current chapter is working with imaginary numbers. We worked on various problems, and he seems to have a better understanding."
"This was the first session we had. The student had a test soon and wanted to review past assignments and the pre- test to prepare for it. We reviewed converting fractions to decimals, finding the square roots and cube roots of rational numbers, and using the Pythagorean Theorem. She left the session feeling more prepared for the test."
