Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This tutoring session consisted of review and practice of word problems, finding the missing numbers, and reviewing multiplication. The student is making progress with understanding how to solve and analyze word problems, finding the missing number, and solving multiplication math problems."
"Today was a really good session with this student! He was focusing really well, and we spent the session on double-digit division. We first worked on the easier problems, and then they got progressively harder. He was very diligent and methodical, which was fantastic, and I introduced him to a few tips on how to figure out potential solutions and remainders. He didn't ask for a lot of help either, except for when the divisor couldn't go into the first two numbers, but I'm confident that he will feel more comfortable with that with some more practice. He did really well!"
"Today we completed the lessons pertaining to divisions 61, 65, 71, and 80. This included two digit answers, as well as dividing with zeros. The student and I went over the vocabulary related to division, and how she should rewrite division problems with the "division house". I also put the four steps of long division on the board, and we kept coming back to that. Right now, she still needs to see the steps to do the problem. I did do a timer division sheet from the student's workbook, and we just need to practice with this more. Today we did the 8's multiplication table, and she remembers all of them except for 8x4 and 8x8. During breaks she worked on the color by number division sheet, as well as the multiplication app."
"Today we covered multiplication of decimals. The student is feeling more confident. She knows all of the steps, but sometimes, there are a lot, and she forgets to add her place holder or multiply the third or fourth line. She just needs to remember these parts of the math practice and she will do well!"
"Today we covered spelling words. The student's words were more difficult this time, and it looks like he will need to study harder for this test. He first wrote sentences with the words. I then helped him to correct the sentences that needed correcting. Most of his mistakes came from incorrect tenses of words. Next, I quizzed the student on the spelling of the words. He had quite a few misspelled words, so we discussed word parts and remembering silent letters. We corrected his mistakes, and he was instructed to go over the words again in the evening."
"Today we finished up reading the nonfiction story and writing the student's Thursday summary for homework. We also reviewed 21 word wall words from the list from school. We worked on multiplication facts and focused on 1's, 2's, 5's, 10's, and started working on 3's. We also started completing a multiplication chart together."
