"Today, the student and I worked on implicit differentiation, logarithmic differentiation, and other various derivative rules. We went over how to implicitly differentiate equations involving both x and y to find y. We also went over how to use the natural log to differentiate more complicated products or quotients. We then went over several examples of differentiating functions involving the natural log and the exponential function. We practiced using the product, quotient, and chain rule throughout. We also did some applications with current and velocity. We will meet again tomorrow."
"Today, we completed lessons 30 and 31 and the first parts of 32. The student needs to review her unit circle and trigonometric functions of known angles to help with her work in inverse trigonometric functions."
"Today, we covered the product rule and the quotient rule. The student already knew how to do both; we just practiced solving these problems for his upcoming exam this week on these topics. I suspect he will do very well with just occasional practice."
"Today, we covered the trapezoidal rule, and I showed the student how to do some of the problems he might encounter. I also went ahead of his class and showed him how to use integration by parts, using some examples, and showed him some of the tricks to make hard-looking problems easier to solve. He was able to solve each of the problems I gave him, so he is still doing exceptionally in his understanding."
"We looked at the student's geometry assessment. She scored an 80%, so best score so far this year! She corrected the ones that she missed. Then, we worked through a couple assignments online covering area, perimeter and surface area. The composite shapes gave her some trouble, so we need to work on them some more. She has some missing work, so she needs to complete that before next session. She is making great progress, eager to learn, and picking up on the concepts well."
"We looked over a review packet, focusing on operations involving graphing, how to use coordinates to solve linear algebraic expressions, and finding the slope and y-intercept. We reviewed quadrants and looking at graphs to verify the slope and y-intercept. The student has shown tremendous improvement but needs to practice more in this area. This is a new topic for her. We will continue to work on this next session."
