Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student wanted help with her final exam. We covered most of the topics briefly from the beginning of her class to the end, including hypothesis tests, standard scores, probability, correlation and regression, and other topics."
"Today we kept discussing basic statistics topics that the student will need to know for his upcoming class. We talked about Poisson distributions, and got into confidence intervals and hypothesis testing. I was able to discuss how and when to use a t-distribution rather than a z-distribution, and also how to use a critical value approach or the p-value approach during a hypothesis test."
"Today we went over one of the student's practice finals and reviewed concepts that she's been learning throughout the year. We talked through and solved problems together and made sure there were no questions about each problem before we moved on. We covered a lot of statistics material including ANOVAs, reading results on Excel, confidence intervals, t-tests, z-scores, proportions, two-sample tests, one-sample tests, setting up hypotheses, etc. She will study this material and complete more practice tests before taking her final test on Thursday afternoon."
"Today we went over what correlation is conceptually and we calculated Pearson's r by hand. I also went over some conceptual material about the normal distribution, including measures of central tendency."
"Today we worked through a theoretical statistics problem that involved identifying biased and unbiased trials and finding a mean that had a higher efficiency. The student seemed to understand everything that I had explained, and had no difficulty with the concepts taught."
"Today, I reviewed several sections of the article with the student to help her arrive at the appropriate responses for her assignment, which is due tonight by midnight. I have also set aside some time up until midnight tonight if she is in need of any additional assistance on further problems."
