Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Concepts covered this session were circles, triangles, and quadrilaterals. We focused on using technology to understanding geometry concepts. We accomplished about half the task and will finish it the next session."
"During the session the student and I went over practice he got from school. He was attentive and was enthusiastic to learn. He was at first confused about his algebra, but when I told him to visualize it in real life, he was able to figure out what was wrong (e.g. having some amount at hand and needing to buy a candy (-ve) or being given money (+ve)). The questions he asked and his interest in my method made it easy to carry him along. His overall evaluation is excellent, and I would love to work with him again. Based on today's session the following suggestions might be of help to improve his grade; taking more time to read and understand the question, putting more attention to what he is solving and writing down his working rather than trying calculating in his head."
"During the session, Student A completed her homework regarding her previous physics exam. I also worked through problems on Student B's review for his geometry exam. Student A seems to have a good handle on the subject. Student B is also doing well with his understanding of geometry. He will need to work slower to minimize mistakes. Both of their attitudes were enthusiastic towards their respective subjects. I have been advising sam to study more. I have asked Student B to view some of the online material to reinforce his understanding."
"During this session we covered basics of line graphing, linear functions, point-slope form, and slope-intercept form, as well as figuring out intercepts/slopes based on parallel or perpendicular lines. The student did quite well and remained focused, and said he received 100% on his submitted quiz. Nice work."
"During this session we went over the reading section of the student's practice SAT test. After scoring her writing and reading sections we calculated that her combined score for those sections was a 350, giving her an overall SAT score of 860. We discussed strategies such as skimming and reading the questions first, which will help her navigate passages faster. She is most adept at vocabulary questions. We agreed that the student should take a practice ACT exam, and then we will decide which is the better option for her."
"During this session we went over the student's notes on right triangles, midpoints, bisectors, and perpendicular lines. "
