Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I reviewed adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions. The student also solved word problems and was introduced to solving equations with negative numbers. The student is making great progress. We will continue working with negative integers next session."
"The student and I reviewed her final practice test. We focused on her strengths and preferred reasoning. She agreed to take the rest of the day off and only lightly review benchmark fractions, percentages, and decimals before tomorrow's big exam."
"The student and I reviewed his homework from last week. He is now solid on graphing quadratic functions, but needs a bit more practice on inverse variation problems and completing the square with an x^2 coefficient, so I assigned him more problems on these topics. We went over the quadratic formula and how to use it, and I also assigned him problems on this. I compiled a list of all the topics we have covered."
"The student and I reviewed his homework sheet dealing with place value and expanded notation. Then I provided additional practice problems on the same concept from my books. She did well on these assignments."
"The student and I reviewed how to locate points on a ruler. We then went over the metric system. We saw how many stops it would take to get from one point to another then we moved our decimal point that many times and in that direction. We also looked at adding and subtracting feet and inches."
"The student and I spent some time discussing what her goals are. She told me that she is doing diagnostic testing as she does not know what academic level she is on in reading, math, and other content areas. She and I spent time reviewing math and reading concepts so that I could get an idea of what level she is performing on. She had a great attitude and was very willing to work and discuss her performance and progress. We discussed strategies for reading comprehension."
