Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We spent the session retaking a previous quiz. Since it involved material we worked on earlier in the day, she had no problem going through the questions. We spent the rest of the session going over her corrections."
"We went over trig identities and simplifying trig equations. The student doesn't have the trigonometry identities memorized yet. I think that will be important to help him become an independent, motivated student. I believe we will need to work on some foundations before moving on to harder concepts of precalculus."
"We went through a problem set and homework correcting problems with no work or that the student got wrong. As a whole, his mistakes stemmed from, I believe, a lack of showing work. Many times during the homework it would click, and he'd finish it to completion from there."
"We went through the student's videos on long division of polynomials, graphing polynomial equations, and finding extrema of functions. We also went through a worksheet on graphing polynomial equations. He understands the material. He should be sure to work carefully and meticulously on these problems. The division itself is not difficult, and he has seen this material before. The hard part is keeping track of the signs and making sure to distribute all the way through, and it is very easy to make mistakes."
"We worked on a review for the midterm in pre-calc. The topics we covered were graphing and working with exponential and logarithmic functions and solving equations with logarithms. We also reviewed Trigonometry. He felt he was more prepared after reviewing these topics."
"We worked on a review of some problems from the student's previous quiz involving partial fraction decomposition. She felt like she had a solid grasp on the concept and completed the problems very well. We then looked ahead to the next lesson involving domain and range and introducing limits, which seems to be a topic they will be covering soon."
