Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We started a new dialogue which focuses on learning how to talk about your family. We decided to no longer place any emphasis on learning the characters, and instead only focus on learning how to speak. This change seemed to improve the session and also encouraged the student in her ability to learn Chinese. It seems to be a positive change thus far."
"The student and I reviewed some of the material we went over yesterday (mostly factoring polynomials and simplifying exponents) and worked through more of the review problems. We didn't finish the entire review, but did get through problem 61 (of 67)."
"Olivia got 10/10.5 on her chapter 11 quiz and was ecstatic about this. We went through practice problems from chapter 12 because she said when she worked through them on her own, she kept getting the wrong answers. When we did them together, I was helping her with the first couple so that she'd know which equations to use, etc., but in general, she did very well with all of the problems. We went through a few more conceptual problems from chapter 11 because I wanted to make sure she knew this information well and she understood them perfectly. This is the most prepared and the best understanding I have seen her have yet before a test, so I think she'll do well on her test tomorrow. She also is feeling much more confident and this confidence is rightly placed."
"The student has started the remainder of his classes, so we spent our hour today going over his English composition class, and the requirements for his first presentation. Although he is working with a group, I prepped him to be able to give the entire speech if necessary."
"We continued to go through the practice tests. We focused on writing out quick outlines for the essay portion, as well as her verbal skills by correctly explaining to me how her essay will be presented on paper. We also reviewed the math skills that we reviewed the previous session."
