Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"For this session, the student completed a review of Lessons 33-34. She worked on different ways to solve multiplication problems using the associative and distributive property. This included using number bonds and discs within a place value chart. She was able to grasp the concept, but may need further practice before she is able to perform the problems completely independently. She did a great job using these new methods and continues to be motivated to do well."
"In today's session, the student worked on his summer math assignment while I graded practice tests for the first 20 lessons. He is going to continue to work on this assignment, after which time we will review the areas he consistently struggles with."
"Reviewed 4 function calculations (adding/subtracting/multiplying/dividing) with mind calculation. The student did good on addition, subtraction, multiplication. Reviewed number line and re-learned scientific notation. We practiced fraction adding, mind-calculation. The student did well."
"She finished up the Chapter 8 assignment and then proceeded to take the quizzes. The quizzes covered odds, probability, expected values, calculated probabilities with "or" statements that call for adding probabilities, and then calculating probabilities with "and" statements that call for multiplying probabilities. We finished up our session with a review of the previous section that will be on the next test on Tuesday. We checked the study guide to pinpoint what we believe will be on the test. Although there is some memorizing involved in preparation for the test, she has a very solid grasp of these topics."
"Student 1 and I worked on subtraction with regrouping. He will still need more instruction with this next time, but he did a great job and was very focused! He gets confused in the hundreds column it seems, so this is where we will focus more next time. Student 2 mastered telling time today! He was pretty excited about it. Student 3 worked on order of operations and did a great job! We also learned the letters p and q in cursive. Extra practice has already been sent!"
"Student A and I continued reviewing functions and relating and creating equations to find unknown angles. He did very well today with very minimal hiccups. Student B and I completed a writing activity and continued reading his chapter book. He continues to become increasingly independent with his writing and his reading is strengthening."
