Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We talked about calculating a t-statistic based on two independently recorded samples. We discussed standard error and utilizing the correct terms in formulas for a t-statistic and z-statistic. As usual, the student was very attentive and focused throughout the lecture. Since he prefers a lecture based session, all of our sessions consist of me writing out the problems on the whiteboard and discussing them in depth."
"We talked about Classical Conditioning. We read a paper on the subject together and went through what all of it meant, and how to interpret the results. This is similar to what we've done in previous sessions. She has gotten better on interpreting papers on her own. It's a difficult subject though, and it has a lot of different unfamiliar aspects, so we're still working on it together. We also talked about one of her upcoming assignments and how to expand her previous work even further."
"We talked about means, variance and standard deviation from grouped and ungrouped data. The student is getting stronger in this material, and we covered more questions today than in previous sessions, but he still finds the work frustrating because it is so time consuming to calculate all this stuff by hand. We worked through several problems together, and we wrote down some step by step instructions on how to finish similar problems in the homework by himself based on what we did in the session. He still has about half of the homework to do I think. I am pleased to see how he is engaging with the material and able to follow formulas well once he gets started. "
"We talked about the course that the student is taking and its structure. She will e-mail me to schedule the next appointment."
"We went over ACT math and science. The student did well on the math and only got 2 questions wrong out of 12. On the science sections, he only got one wrong out of 35. He is well prepared on these sections, and I think we will focus on reading and writing during our next sessions."
"We went over Chapter 3 from her textbook which is mainly z-scores, means, standard deviations, coefficient of variation, etc. She is making good progress. Next week we'll go over a couple of problems from this session, and then we'll start on Probability Distributions."
