Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We extensively covered polynomial graph tendencies--identifying the domain, range, intercepts, relative max and min, and increasing and decreasing intervals. I broke it down step by step, giving the student a framework to attack the problems. She demonstrated proficiency in the work."
"We finished reviewing the unit exam on quadrilaterals and the semester final. The student will try to answer the questions she can answer on her own, and we'll continue working on the final next time. She did very well setting up equations and solving for variables!"
"We finished the biology section he requested, and we moved on to geometry, covering nets, drawing angles, and line geometry. We had some difficulty on how to mentally find groups of noticeable lines, but we got some major headway and I think it went well. I think he grasped the information thoroughly, and he seemed to make progress. He has his study guide, and he seems to work well using it with his notes. I have noticed improvement, and he has been doing great work all around."
"We finished the chapter assessment on similar right triangles. The student is now working on problems that use overlapping triangles with shared sides. He has some trouble keeping track of the different parts, so we will be drawing the problems as two separate triangles with congruent components."
"We finished up proofs with basic triangles and circles. Now we have moved into more advanced proofs using similar triangles with other shapes circumscribed around them and parallelogram and rhombus properties."
"We focused on naming conventions for chemistry with regard to ionic and covalent bonds. The student needs to work on memorizing the content and practicing doing the namings. Attitude was good. Main strategy came from writing out each ion needed and making sure they balance when going from name to formula."
