My strong work ethic, personal joy in developing life long learners as well as love of instructional planning and execution, make me a quality tutor. I have 30 hours beyond my Masters in Teaching with a focus a on reading and writing. During my tenure as a second grade teacher on the North Shore of Chicago, I made wonderful connections with students and their families. Personally, I had the delight of raising my four children and influencing their love of learning. My oldest three have graduated or attend Northwestern University and my youngest attends the University of Wisconsin, Madison. In my free time, I enjoy going for walks, tennis, and Pilates.

As an individual instructor, I assess student needs and create a personalized program to fill in academic gaps. My graduate work in phonetics and linguistics provides best practices for reading support. Students need to learn the rules for decoding words in a particular order. If a step is missed, it is harder to read more complex words. The same philosophy pertains to math. It is my job to find the areas of need and build the required skills.
