Hello Everybody,

My name is Luke Dutch. I was born and raised in Houston, Tx. As far as my education goes, I went to St. Pius X High School for 4 years, and thereafter, went to the University of Houston for a BA in English and Spanish, and then a Master's in Linguistics at the University of Pompeu Fabra in Spain.

I gained experience working with students primarily during my undergraduate career. I worked as a writing consultant at the University of Houston and a tutor for kids of all ages in mainly English, History, Spanish, Writing, and Academic Strategies.

I enjoy working with students primarily because I love seeing the satisfaction of a student when he or she overcomes a hurdle. Struggling with schoolwork is no fun, and as the tutor, I like to work with kids so that they can have a better attitude about going through school. Furthermore, I love learning about how people learn. Finally, I love the subjects I tutor--English, Spanish, writing, and many other humanities subjects.

As far as my teaching philosophy goes, I believe planning ahead of time is important because too much improvisation can be stressful. I also like to ask students about how they learn best because after all, the sessions are for them.

While I like teaching many subjects, I love Spanish and even enjoy tutoring in Spanish. I think Spanish opens many doors, and being bilingual in English and Spanish has many advantages.

In conclusion, I am flexible and understanding, and I feel that I equipped to be a good tutor.

Me llamo Luke Dutch, y nac y crec en Houston, TX. En cuanto a la trayectoria de mi educacin, asist a St. Pius X por cuatro aos, y despus, asist a la Universidad de Houston donde obtuve una licenciatura en ingls y espaol y despus una en lingstica en la Universidad de Pompeu Fabra en Espaa.

Gan experiencia con estudiantes en la Universidad de Houston. Durante mi carrera universitaria, trabajaba como un consultante en el centro de escritura (Writing Center en la Universidad de Houston) y un tutor de cuenta propia para estudiantes de todas edades en temas como ingls, historia, espaol, escritura, y estrategias acadmicas.

Me encanta trabajar con estudiantes porque me complace ver la satisfaccin de un estudiante cuando supera una dificultad. No es nada divertido cuando al estudiante le cuestan los deberes escolares, y como un tutor, me gusta trabajar con los estudiantes para que se enfrenten a cualquier desafo con una mejor actitud. Ademas, me fascina aprender de los estilos de aprendizaje. Finalmente, me encantan los temas que enseoingls, espaol, escritura y otros temas en las humanidades.

Con respecto a mi filosofa de enseanza, creo que es importante tener un plan establecido antes porque demasiada improvisacin suele causar demasiado estrs. Tambin me gusta preguntarles a los estudiantes cmo aprendan mejor porque hay que recordar que las sesiones son para ellos.

Aunque disfruto de todos los temas que enseo, mi tema favorito es el espaol y an disfruto de ensear en espaol. Creo que el espaol abre muchas puertas, y ser bilinge en espaol e ingls tiene muchas ventajas.

En conclusin, soy flexible y comprensivo, y siento que estoy listo para ser un buen tutor.
