Hello! I am excited about having the opportunity to help students who want to increase their skills and knowledge. I struggled during school and never imagined that I would be a teacher, principal, and superintendent. It took me years to earn my degree and I attended close to 7 different colleges before graduating. Among the few were junior colleges, Texas State University, and ultimately The University of Texas at San Antonio, earning my Bachelor's in English. Learning and growing never ends. Over the last few years I earned my Master's in Education and several certifications.
I've tutored students for the past 17 years in English Language Arts and Reading as well as test preparation for STAAR Reading and Writing exams. I am passionate about those subjects and all of the women in my family teach the same subjects.
I've had to adjust my philosophy on education since COVID came into our lives. Now more than ever it is critical to know exactly where every student is in their learning and then reach them at their starting point, find their most successful way to learn and get parents and/or guardians involved. Students need to be in control of tracking their progress and feeling successful. The adults in their life also want to see progress!
My outside interests start with my first grandchild! I also have a love of camping, going to the beach, and reality TV shows!
So, I went from the teacher's kid who was always in trouble to becoming a teacher for life!
