Hey my name is Shane! I graduated from the University of Miami with a Master's in Healthcare Administration in addition to a BS in Health Sciences from Drexel University. I have previously tutored Varsity Tutors and have been teaching on the side for over 8 years. I currently reside in Fairfax County Virginia working in HC Administration.

Math can be a scary subject to so many students. As someone who has had to deal with math from childhood to their current job, it is important to understand math is a friend and not a foe! I specialize in students who are willing to learn but have a tough time comprehending certain aspects of math. I work well with kids who need extra attention with math. There are many students who are great at math but are not taught in the way they need to be taught. Math is a skill that students must grasp early. Grasping this subject early allows them to succeed as they move on to higher-level courses. Therefore, I specialize in working with students from K-8 for the sole purpose of creating that foundation. My goals are to always be transparent with the parent about what I plan to do. For students who struggle with math, I start by building a core and getting them early wins to boost confidence. For more experienced students, I challenge them outside of the school curriculum so they can see what advanced math can look like before they experience it next year. I tailor my tutoring sessions custom to each student and how they would learn and benefit best.

I am also passionate about helping students with their homework or test preparation. No child should feel alone in their struggle with math. Every child, with the right support and guidance, can excel at math. The greatest reward is seeing your child succeed and them getting the good grades they deserve.
