My passion is learning and as such, am a life long learner. After acquiring my degree in Environmental Biology I worked in industry for several years. Realizing that this line of work was not as fulfilling as I had hoped I returned to school to obtain a degree in occupational therapy with a specialty in pediatrics. This was a perfect fit. I worked with students in a school setting, in their homes and the clinic. It was so rewarding to work 1 on 1 with a child helping them build confidence and reach their goals. Most recently I have put my career on hold in order to homeschool my own children. My oldest recently graduated with honors and my second is starting high school this year. In addition to teaching my own children I have been blessed to have the opportunity to share my passion for learning with other homeschool students by teaching math and science classes in a local co-op setting. As my children have gotten older and need less direct teaching, I have been able to volunteer as a tutor in Adult literacy and Adult English as a Second Language (ESL) programs also. Education is so important. It builds knowledge, but I think more importantly, it builds confidence.

I love to read although there never seems to be enough time for that! When I am not doing schoolwork with my child or preparing lessons for my chemistry class or ESL class, I am completing home improvement projects (I am the dedicated painter in our house) or working in the yard. During the winter I spend more time puttering around the kitchen trying out new recipes. There is nothing better than eating warm cookies while sipping a cup of coffee and reading a good book!
