What drives me about helping students is knowing that they are receiving information and implementing it into their personal lives.
I have been an educator for 10 years serving students with Individualized Education Plans (IEP). These students are served in Exceptional Student Education(ESE) or Special Education programs. I have instructed within small group settings providing specially designed instruction and behavior management provided on their Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA).
I received my education at Bethune Cookman University. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Educational Studies.
I am currently tutoring students within special education and students K-8th grade. This ranges from Elementary subject areas and middle school subject areas.
My favorite subject to tutor is English Language Arts, and writing comprehension. These areas are extremely strong for me. I enjoy writing research papers and finding factual information to support my topic with positive arguments.
My teaching philosophy is student driven. My goal is providing instruction based on student interest. Most times using the students interests to provide instruction allow the student to relate to the subjects and grasp the concepts and strategies necessary to become and remain successful. My style is based on rapport I develop with the students. Without rapport the student(s) will not give 100% if they feel that I am not invested in them.
My interests outside of academia include spending time with my family & friends, playing games with my son, watching movies, spending time at the beach, and working on special projects around the house.
