I am a graduate of the University of South Florida. I received my degree in Business Administration in 2003 with a major in Marketing. Since that time, I have taught middle school mathematics, Algebra I and II, and Geometry and trained in AVID, IB Middle School Mathematics and Single Gender Education for over thirteen years. I am strong proponent of student-centered learning and believe every student is capable of learning mathematics. My passion is helping struggling students overcome the obstacles that keep them from being successful in the math class. Through my own experiences as a math student, I understand that a student needs to approach each problem in their own way and discover their own abilities to do mathematics and thus choose their own method of solving the problem correctly. I believe these opportunities provide students the confidence they need to succeed and have witnessed it firsthand. My teaching methods include research-based methods that have solid data to support student learning gains. I never stop trying to help a student identify how they view mathematics and encourage them to proceed with confidence in solving mathematical problems.
