My name is Michael Dunlea and I have been a working in schools for the past sixteen years. I have worked at the Elementary Education level for the past ten years. I am certified in Elementary Education (Grades 1-6) in Massachusetts. I am also a certified English Language Learners (ELL) teacher in the state of Massachusetts.

I love teaching because without an education it is difficult to be an active member in your community, and one day make a difference.

Some of the strengths I have gained while working in education is planning, setting routines, encouragement, and teaching methods for each subject. I have also found ways to use a manipulative to enhance student understanding. I have taught remotely for one school year, and this taught me it is possible to learn by teaching virtually.

I received my Bachelor of Arts in English, with a Minor in Education, from Assumption University in Worcester, MA. I obtained my Master's Degree in Elementary Education from American International College in Springfield, MA.

I have tutored Reading, Writing, and Math. My favorite subject to tutor is Math. Math is often a subject students think they will not be able to understand, and they think it is boring. I love making them see it can be fun, but also they will learn the concept we are discovering.

My tutoring style is to begin with a question that covers what we learned about last time. This way I know if the student understands the concept that was taught. If we need to review we can, but if they understand we can. move forward. I like to display information so the student can visualize. I stop frequently to check in and see how the student is understanding. I like to end my tutoring session by asking "what did we learn about today?"

I look forward in assisting and helping your student gain knowledge and confidence.

Regards,

Michael Dunlea
