Currently, I work with students between 16 and 70. I have experience teaching in an in-person and online format. I teach various subjects, including subject related to criminal justice, psychology, and the ACT.
I obtained my Master of Science in Psychology with an emphasis on Forensic Psychology from Southern New Hampshire University and my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from University of Phoenix. I am in the process of applying for another master program with Oklahoma State University for Counseling and intend to become a Licensed Professional Counselor. I am an ACT Certified Educator.
I am passionate about helping student because I was a full-time student juggling a full-time job as a police officer. I remember having to balance work, home, family, and school. My goal is to help students understand their coursework and ease the juggling.
I am able to tutor the following subjects: the ACT, psychology, social sciences, criminology, criminal law, and criminal justice. I have helped student review for the Counsel on Law Enforcement Education and Training final exams.
My favorite subjects to tutor and teach is anything to do with law enforcement and mental health. As a police officer with a degree in psychology, I am very passionate about teaching the importance of mental health in law enforcement for both the officer's mental health and for people who officers might encounter.
I believe students learn in many different ways. In an online classroom, students need motivation, understanding, reinforcement, and to form connections. I see providing clear and in-depth discussions, proposing though provoking questions, and offering positive feedback on various assignments. Also, I see assignments as they relate to one another, building knowledge and information off of the previous skills developed and reinforce them with the next task.
Outside of academia, I enjoy working out. I rock climb in a local gym, train in jiu jitsu, mountain bike, and lift weights. I think my biggest accomplishments in working out was winning first place in my weight class in powerlifting (squat, bench press, and deadlift). Also, I enjoy doing house projects and drawing/sketching.
I look forward to meeting you.
