I've always heard songs in my head, and I've been in the practice of writing them down and recording them since I was 11. I started playing my songs onstage when I was 15, and since then, I've traveled to / lived in London, Nashville, Los Angeles, and New York City, performing, recording, and experiencing life as a professional independent musician. I graduated from Syracuse University *right* when the pandemic first hit in 2020, but I was able to turn what initially appeared to be a catastrophe into a huge opportunity by moving to Brooklyn at the peak of the pandemic (when the rent was historically low)! I always felt when I was in school that music was being taught with the wrong approach, that it was never as rigid and complex as the teachers I experienced made it out to be. As a tutor, I love to show students the freedom and fun inherent in creating music, and to help guide them toward tapping into their unique and unlimited creative potential. My approach is highly personalized, and aims to facilitate the growth of a connection (and ultimately a collaboration) between the intellectual and intuitive capabilities in each of us. Most of all, I hope to demonstrate to as many students as possible that when approached from the right perspective, creating music is actually much easier than most people think, and, like any other skill, just takes a little time and patience.
