My responsibility and role as a teacher is to create a comfortable learning environment where students are empowered to think, be creative and to seek additional resources to achieve their learning goals. I provide supportive and constructive feedback regarding their work to further encourage them to grow and enjoy learning. My goal is all the students achieve a solid level of understanding of the topics and encourage them to pursue their own unique curiosities and supporting those interests along the way.
Teaching is a professional multi-faceted career. I am constantly mindful of the need to ensure that the theory and subject matter I discuss is presented in a way that is meaningful and comprehendible to my students. I strive to make the topics interesting, engaging and accessible to everyone in the classroom. My teaching incorporates hands-on learning, real-life examples and individual work that engage and activate students learning. My recent STEM teaching position allowed for personal creativity in classroom and the materials I used which allowed freedom to customize and improve the learning process for the entire class.
Teachers need to be the catalyst for learning by making information understandable and applicable to students. An effective teacher also has the will and the ability to teach with varied emotions that I feel are effective means of communication while teaching that makes it more personal and engaging to the leaners. Teaching and learning is a sharing experience and a lifelong process.
