I am a freshman at University of Texas at Austin majoring in interior design.

I was drawn to tutoring even as a kid, helping my friends and acquaintances with school - it comes sort of naturally to me; as someone who loves to learn and grasp ideas fully, being able to share that with others is so meaningful. I did very well in school in large part due to my hunger to learn, but it took a lot of time and energy because so much of the instructing I received was inadequate. All the time I think back to middle and high school and imagine the many ways I could have been taught better and more kindly. Consequently, I want to provide assistance to students in a way that is more empathetic and considerate of various learning styles because I know what a vast difference it can make to one's academic confidence and of course grades. We all have our strengths and I think it is so possible to improve if we play to them rather than trying to bend to the so-called "standard".

I teach SAT prep (EBRW + Math), most every middle school and high school subjects (yes, I was and am a nerd XD), and AP courses most notably Physics, Calculus AB & BC and more.

I'm looking forward to getting to know you and/or your child!

Hobbies

I am a reader at heart - I know that's a common hobby but it definitely is a special thing to experience stories through words. There's something about it that's more visceral and personal than a movie (although I love movies too! Who doesn't, haha). As an interior design major, I'm also a deep, deep lover of art and design. I draw often, and the impact of creating and expressing things that exceed the verbal is beyond important. Contrastly, I also love to write short stories. Short stories are like a separate artform from other forms of writing. I don't know if you can tell, but I'm naturally a very wordy, 2000-word-essay-to-decipher-and-develop-ideas type of girl - with art and short stories, I find myself dispensing my tendency to almost over-verbalize and intellectualize and allow ideas to flow more abstractly. The resulting effect is often more profound and frequently more representative of what I mean to say than an essay (although I know I'll never stop writing essays, either :P). I have one succulent - Petunia (Pea is her nickname - can you tell I adore her). There used to be two, but Emerald - Dorothy for short - has since passed away. RIP Dorothy. The list goes on - movie-making, fashion, makeup, Pinterest-surfing, clay-making, music (of course!), etc.
