Hello, I'm Nathan! I am a certified high school teacher currently teaching in Brooklyn, NY with an B.A. in Spanish from Tulane University and a Master's in Teaching Spanish (MAT) from University of Illinois Chicago. Along with teaching for 3 years in the US, I taught 1 year in a public school in Madrid, Spain. During my time abroad, I not only deepened my understanding of Spanish culture, but also earned a certification of Near-Native Fluency (C1 CEFR) from the Spanish Ministry of Education. I enjoy working with a range of students of all ages and levels, whether they are currently learning it in school or picking up a new language as an adult.
Spanish has been a very important part of my life since I started learning it formally at the age of 5 in a dual-language program, so much so that I wanted to dedicate my life to sharing my passion through teaching. As a teacher / tutor I strive to help students develop their proficiency and discover their own passion for the language through creating dynamic and interactive lessons that intertwine students' interests and real-world applicability. I understand the challenges of learning a new language because I experienced it first-hand, which is why I teach through an empathetic lens and make sure that students grow as language learners through active communication. Whether you are looking for conversation classes, need help preparing for an exam, or just want to improve your Spanish--I'm the teacher for you!
