I have a BA in English Literature and an MA in Transnational American Studies from the American University of Beirut. I had the opportunity to present my MA project, a children's book that I wrote and illustrated, at conferences in both Cairo and Albuquerque. I have always loved art ever since I was a child because my father was an artist. He helped me look at everything from an artistic and imaginative point of view. I love drawing characters and watching them come to life on paper.
In Lebanon, I have worked many jobs that helped me grow as a person and an educator. These jobs included being the Fiction editor of a Beirut-based literary and art journal, an English-Arabic translator, and the coordinator of a feminist school that hosted a diverse group of Arab women.
After moving to the USA 3 years ago, I have been teaching at Epiphany School in Dorchester, MA. I designed my own 5th grade Social Studies curriculum to cover relevant current events, BIPOC history, and a thorough exploration of world histories and cultures. Within this curriculum, I implemented many art projects for students to visually express what we have learned. I believe in the power of our youth and I work to strengthen my students' knowledge of themselves and those around them. At Epiphany, I have also taught Illustration, Visual Art, and Media.
I am now excited to continue my teaching journey in Florida where it's warmer! Wherever I am in this world, I am passionate about helping my students express themselves and find their voices.
