I am currently an undergraduate student at the University of Michigan. I am working towards my bachelors degree in psychology. I am planning on tutoring in the humanities and English subjects. My favorite subjects to tutor are the social sciences because those were always the classes that interested me the most in school.
I am passionate about helping students because I want to help them gain the confidence they need to feel comfortable in subjects they are struggling with. Not being confident in a subject that one wants to excel in is frustrating and something I have experienced many times in my life, and I want to help students work through that. Although I have never tutored with another service, I have been a camp counselor and have a lot of experience of working with children of all ages.
My teaching philosophy is that I am here for the student, not for myself. If a learning style or curriculum that I have laid out doesn't work for a student, then there's no point in forcing it. It is all about what works for each individual student, and that is going to be different for everyone.
Outside of academia, my interests include traveling, biking, finding good food, and watching sitcoms.
