I started working with children in an afterschool program as a group lead (for 7 years) and then became a site coordinator (for another 6 years). While at that job I engaged in the practice of child/human development for 13 years total, providing daily tutoring and academic enrichment for elementary students. Then, for the last three years I also joined MiraCosta Community College's Child Development department as an Associate Faculty, getting to engage in the theory of child/human development. As an associate faculty I gained the experience of helping college level students one-on-one, in small groups and in the full class setting, both in person and online. My experience in both jobs provides me the board range of tutoring subjects listed on my profile. Whether working with a 5, 25, or 55 year old student, I always look forward to the opportunity and consider it such a privilege.
Education & Certification
Undergraduate Degree: California State University-San Marcos - Bachelor in Arts, Psychology
Graduate Degree: California State University-San Bernardino - Master of Arts, Child Development
I have broad interests in psychology, from health to social to developmental psychology. My passion though is child development, particularly during the school age years. Specifically, I am interested in child guidance practices for school age child care professionals, as adapted from early childhood guidance and classroom management strategies. My hobbies include taking hikes with my dogs and attending local events. My goal is to help all my students better themselves, either personally or professionally, through our interactions.
