I hold a B.A. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of California, where I graduated summa cum laude. I also hold a Masters in Education as well as a Masters in Science from Pace University. I am a certified teacher in New York and California.
While studying, I was employed by Francis Collins as a geneticist intern for the Human Genome Project. I also worked as a lab technician at the Salk Institute and Scripps Research Institute in San Diego, CA.
I've served as a middle and high school teacher for the past 11 years. I've taught various math and science courses, including algebra 1 & 2, geometry, pre-calculus, chemistry, biology, earth science, environmental science, botany, genetics, anatomy & physiology, epidemiology, quantitative research, and more. I have over 12 years of tutoring experience in similar subject areas (including ACT, SAT, NY Regents, and other exam prep) for grades 6 through undergrad.
I employ a student-centered teaching style, encouraging students to think independently and critically in order to draw their own conclusions about the content. I believe learning can and should be fun, and I'm skilled in making that happen.
