I am a retired Special Education teacher with 28 years of teaching experience in Grades K to 12. I was educated at Hunter College of the City University of New York. I have continued to take creative writing and poetry classes offered through the public library. I love writing and have recently published a book of my poetry called "Everyday Poems For Everyday People". It is available on Amazon. The bulk of my experience has been teaching children in grades K to 3. I also taught Creative Dramatics after school, and supported children in writing their own original plays. I love encouraging creativity in students and inspiring them to do all types of creative writing.
One of the things I love most about tutoring for Varsity Tutors is being able to work one on one with my students. This way I can taylor the lessons to the individual needs of the student. I do not complete a learning plan for a student before we meet. Rather I work with the student and determine their strengths and weaknesses. I create a learning plan based on their needs. I like to email to parents worksheets for each student to complete with me at our sessions. I am thus able to select the correct topics and appropriate materials each student needs.
I am committed to have a positive, upbeat relationship with all my students. I like to make learning fun, exciting, and challenging all at the same time.
