I graduated from Duke University with a B.A. in English. Initially, I declared a major in Public Policy, but later decided to concentrate on English literature. I wanted to be eligible for Duke's student exchange program in England and was honored to be the candidate chosen by the English department to spend a year at the University of Warwick. Duke offered an excellent summer course in English literature at Oxford University, and I took advantage of that opportunity as well.
I mentored fellow students in high school and college in various subjects, but I particularly enjoy tutoring English grammar, reading and writing. Helping students write compelling application essays (for boarding school, college and graduate school) is most gratifying.
In my professional career, I have done extensive writing, proofreading and editing. My first job after college was an entry level position at a television station (the NBC affiliate in W. Palm Beach, FL.) where I quickly learned about production and earned an assortment of assignments. These projects included writing and producing public service announcements, consumer reports, weekend news stories, and ultimately, creating, writing and producing a daily news program which aired immediately before the Today show on NBC.
I have worked in financial services (in NY and London) which entailed writing correspondence and research reports. As an executive and personal assistant to several CEOs, my duties included extensive writing, proofreading and editing personal and professional correspondence, documents and creative writing projects, some of which were published.
I enjoy helping people discover and enhance their authentic voice and communicate their ideas and opinions in a coherent and articulate manner.
Essential to this endeavor is the robust use of a thesaurus, correct grammar and syntax.
In addition to academic pursuits, I practice yoga (which I taught for 15 years) and am extremely passionate about golf.
I am the proud mother of 3 extraordinary adult sons and an adorable Havanese.
