Hello! I am a writer, actor, dramaturg, and historian focusing on performance styles and on the early modern English period. I received my MFA in Shakespeare and Performance, Dramaturgy from Mary Baldwin University in partnership with the American Shakespeare Center. I also received my MLitt from this institution. I graduated with my BA in Theatre Arts, Performance Styles and Cultural Studies, from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma. My undergraduate studies included studying many methods of performance, including the naturalist techniques of Stanislavski and Meisner, the physical techniques of Laban, Viewpoints, and Suzuki, and more contemporary styles such as Improv. During this time I also was cast in a show in New York City, where I performed professionally. I love to run improv games and rehearsal rooms and truly enjoy training young performers in the art of acting though fun and educational techniques.
As a graduate student I focused on research, writing, rhetoric, and pedagogy. My MLitt thesis was awarded for its quality at the end of the school year and I worked as a peer reviewer on three successful MFA theses during my second degree. I am a soon-to-be-published writer and researcher, currently working on a chapter contribution to a peer reviewed book of articles on theatre scholarship. In my program I also focused on literature and pedagogy. I read the entire Shakespeare canon and helped stage 10 shows of, or adapted from, early modern plays. I learned to scan early meter, teach Shakespeare's works, and identify rhetorical patterns. I very much enjoy using my knowledge in this area to help students struggling with reading and writing in general, as well as more specifically studying Shakespeare.
Finally, as a student and performer during COVID, I received a great deal of experience rehearsing, devising, lecturing, and meeting over Zoom and other conferencing platforms. I am very comfortable working online, if desired.
Thank you for reading this little bit about me, I hope to work with you soon!
