I have been working as a teacher for four years now, most recently as a second grade teacher in Colorado. Teaching is truly my calling; my favorite aspect of it being my ability to help those who feel stuck get through that road-block.
My personal education is extensive, having received my Bachelor of Arts from California Lutheran University, my Master of Arts from California State University, Northridge, and most recently my Colorado teaching license through the Friends Teacher Preparation Program. Throughout my four years of experience, I worked as a substitute teacher, a student teacher while in college, and as an elementary school teacher.
I have worked with a vast age range of students (from pre-school to college ages) of all degrees of learning and development. My specializations include phonics, writing, reading, proofreading, college thesis development, time management, organization, and acting.
My philosophy is that the use of imagination is essential to learning any subject. It enables the student to make discoveries within the lesson and envision themselves being successful within that lesson.
Outside of academia, I love spending time with my husband and our cat (Gus). I also love listening to podcasts about health and exercise; running, hiking, and being outside in nature. I'm also a fan of Disney, Harry Potter, and appreciate a good cup of coffee.
