I went to Indiana University, Purdue University, Indianapolis (IUPUI) on a tuition-paid scholarship based on my SAT score and received my BS in Radiation Therapy with honors and highest distinction. While at college I spent three years tutoring students as a senior mentor at the IUPUI Speaker's Lab. In addition, as a member of a homeschool family, I have quite a bit of experience tutoring younger siblings in many different subjects. I have always loved to teach and seriously considered a career in education. I enjoy teaching elementary students, first year physics, algebra, and SAT test prep among other subjects. My favorite part about teaching is seeing students develop confidence in themselves as I help them progress in their understanding. I am a very flexible tutor, adapting my teaching style to suit the needs of the individual student. I believe in a progressive and confidence-building teaching method where I will explain the concept to the student, work through the concept with student, have the student work through the concept with help if needed, and then have them explain the concept. I want them to know why, not just how. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, scrapbooking, spending time with my husband, and socializing with friends and family.
