I am a graduate of The University of Akron. I received my Bachelor of Arts in English and French, and a Master of Science in AYA Language Arts with concentrations in Language Arts (grades 7-12) and French (K-12) and a TESOL Endorsement. I lived and worked in a suburb of Paris, teaching English to middle school and high school students for three months.
It was an opportunity of a lifetime, and I often reflect on my time there and how much I learned and grew both as a teacher and as a person. I also taught Honors and regular English 9 and 10 and French 1 in a high school in Ohio. During that time, I enjoyed being the Varsity Girls Tennis Coach. It was a great way to get to know some of my students outside of the classroom and teach them a sport that I love. Whether I am teaching The Great Gatsby, how to write a solid five paragraph essay, or how to conjugate French verbs, I believe content needs to be relatable and relevant to the students' lives, and learning strategies need to be interactive, varied, and fun! I have tutored individual students in the past in the areas of beginning French, vocabulary building, essay writing, and resume creation. The classroom setting can be quite judgmental and stressful. Students need to feel that their weaknesses can be addressed and improved upon in a safe setting, free from peer judgment. These are a few reasons why I find one-on-one or small group tutoring particularly rewarding.

I love to read, play tennis, cook, hike, and swim in my spare time. I am also highly addicted to the app, Duolingo. I enjoy learning new languages and am using Duolingo to learn Greek and Spanish. I love to travel and hope to make a first time visit to Greece in the next few years.
