I have been passionate about nature since I was six years old, and have been enjoying sharing my knowledge for nearly as long. During high school, I gained experience teaching as a volunteer educator at Brookfield Zoo, in which I engaged with guests across a diversity of ages and backgrounds about the animals on exhibit and the importance of wildlife conservation, volunteering over 1,000 hours over 4 years. As a volunteer, the most fulfilling moments for me were when I would see a guest light up with excitement, and knowing that I had been able to connect them with the joy I find in nature. Those were interactions in which I knew I had made an impact on a person, and they would carry what they learned with them long after they left the zoo. I continued to volunteer in wildlife education as an undergraduate, by volunteering as a member of the Education Crew with The Raptor Center, in which I presented to guests as well as visiting school classes about raptor biology and the importance of protecting birds of prey. I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science in Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology, and dual minors in Communications and Animal Behavior. While I love to tutor on topics related to my background in areas such as Math, Chemistry, and Biology, I have a strong background in English, Writing, Literature, and a personal passion for history. As an educator I think it's important to model a passion for learning, and I try to bring energy and excitement to every lesson, not only to help students stay motivated, but to help them know I am invested in them. I also listen and observe carefully to what a student needs and is feeling, so I can gain vital insight into how a student learns best, and so I can adapt my approach to their individual needs. In my free time I love to practice dance, cook, bake, and binge watch documentaries.
