I am a retired music educator who taught choral, piano and general music in the public school system with much vigor and excitement for over thirty years. Although I am officially "off the clock", my passion for teaching and providing positive learning experiences for students of all ages still resonates deeply from within and has been since the beginning of my teaching career. I received my Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Alabama State University (Montgomery, AL) and a Master of Education in Integrated Studies from Cambridge College (Boston, MA).
Over the years, I have come to believe that "Music is the Key to Success." Fortunately, with that "key" I have been able to unlock many barriers that have led to excellence in my students both academically and artistically. Furthermore, having taught multiple grade levels in music, it has provided me with a plethora of teaching tools to assist students to think critically and creatively in various subjects.
At Varsity Tutors, I will be tutoring students in the subjects that I am most passionate about such as vocal music, music theory, piano, general music, and audition preparation.
In my spare time, I sing with a professional community choral ensemble and study jazz piano privately. In addition, I enjoy tailgating, attending concerts, musicals, traveling and touring museums. I hope to return to participating with these and other activities to the fullest real soon.
