I'm a graduate of Trinity University, a liberal arts college in Texas. I gained a B.A. in English and Communication, graduating magna cum laude. I loved college, because it allowed me to develop a passion for reading and writing (especially fiction), journalism, and editing/proofreading!
After college, I moved to NYC! There, I worked as an editor and reporter for a newspaper in Brooklyn. I honed my editing skills as an intern for Show Business Magazine, W.W. Norton, and Campus Clipper Publishing. I also took creative and business writing workshops in my spare time.
In my workshops, I edited my fellow classmates' writing and provided constructive feedback in a welcoming environment. These workshops made me realize how rewarding it is to assist others in making their writing shine! So I decided to pursue editing on a professional level by becoming an English tutor.
I have been tutoring students online in reading and writing since 2015. I've tutored children as young as seven, to seniors. I enjoy working most on literature questions and essays, but also have experience editing emails, professional documents such as white papers, resumes, and cover letters.
My pedagogical style includes creating a collaborative and engaging environment to guide students to the correct answer, rather than lecturing. I feel tutoring is a two-way street; tutors can always learn something new from their students! Online tutoring has allowed me to meet students of all backgrounds from around the world, an opportunity that's not possible with in-person tutoring. Now, more than ever, people connect and learn from each other virtually!
Undergraduate Degree: Trinity University - Bachelor in Arts, English
I enjoy reading and writing poetry and fiction--I published one children's book and am working on the rest in the series! My favorite sport is snowboarding. I live in the Rocky Mountains so the resort is not far from my door! I love traveling and learning about new cultures! I worked for 3 summers at a Writer's and Artist's Retreat in France.
