I am a current undergraduate student at Carnegie Mellon University, planning to study chemical engineering. I tutor in science, math, and art, all of which I have taken AP and college courses for. I have some experience teaching the basics of drawing and art to young children and I have taught elementary and middle school level math to my sister and her classmates. In high school, I also tutored some of my peers in high school math and physics. I am also working to become a TA for physics at my university.
My teaching philosophy is centered around the idea that each student learns differently and that it is my job to create and execute a tutoring style for each individual student that meets their needs. However, I try to approach students as a peer rather than a teacher. I understand how frustrating it is to do poorly in certain classes and so I believe that my empathy for students efforts is also something that is valuable. Every student deserves an opportunity to succeed and it is my job as a tutor to provide that opportunity.
