Hi! Jaecie here (pronounced Jay-see). I own and operate a swim school in Colorado Springs but as COVID has slowed everything down, I'm using my time to tutor students like you! I received a Bachelor of Arts with an emphasis in Creative Writing and a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Drawing from Metro State University in 2013. During my time as an undergraduate student, I worked in the writing center tutoring students studying everything from psychology to mathematics. I also worked as a studio assistant in the art building providing demos and support to first year art students. Since graduating, I've continued to tutor middle school through undergrad students on a freelance basis specifically in essay writing. One of my favorite things to do is help a student who loathes writing become a confident, stress-free writer. As a mother of 3 who is now unexpectedly homeschooling her children, I've had the opportunity to tap back into reading and writing skills for early learners (something I first found a passion for while teaching first grade in 2008!). Helping young readers build their skills and become independent, comprehending readers is something I really love too! I'd say my specialties lay on opposite ends of the spectrum. I see great results working with children between 1st-3rd grade on reading and writing skills as well as middle school through undergraduate students on writing and literary analysis. I also enjoy tutoring students of all ages on drawing and painting, my specialty being acrylic and oil painting. I've taught many painting classes over the years and have recently moved these lessons online too.
Education & Certification
Undergraduate Degree: Metropolitan State University - Bachelor of Fine Arts, English
In my free time I spend a lot of time reading and writing myself! I particularly enjoy science fiction and postmodern fiction. I also spend a lot of time oil painting and enjoy exploring expressionism on canvas. I enjoy yoga, gardening, camping, hiking, and kayaking - especially when I can do these activities with my kiddos!
