Currently entering my final semester at Colorado State University, double majoring in Statistics and Finance. Also completed a minor in French. Although my tutoring experience is not formal, I have helped and informally tutored many of my peers and classmates. I often grasp material quicker than most, and will usually set aside some time to make sure my classmates are on the same page. This includes but is not limited to homework help, general material reinforcement as well as leading study groups for upcoming exams. Due to my academic experience, I am comfortable teaching most statistical concepts, as well as finance/business topics. My French minor gives me confidence in tutoring French, and with Spanish being my native language I am also comfortable tutoring Spanish. Although I enjoy my entire academic curriculum, I am most passionate about studying and tutoring statistics. Statistics is such an applicable subject, that once you learn a certain concept you will quickly find ways to incorporate it into almost every moment of your life. I have done statistical research concerning film, music, sports, financial markets, etc. Given how broad statistics is, I can always find a way to engage a student with statistics since I can always find an interesting way to apply it to their specific interests. As for my teaching philosophy, I've always been an advocate of "You can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make him drink". It's one thing for me to simply lecture about a topic, but it's another thing for me to lead a student through the concept and have them arrive at proven statistical conclusions on their own. That "lightbulb" moment is what I always strive for, and it is so much more gratifying when a student reaches this understanding after going through the logic and critical thinking of WHY a concept is the way it is. Outside of academics I have numerous interests. I enjoy American and English literature, and I'm currently working on a novel. I also practice Mixed Martial Arts, so when I'm not tutoring/studying I will usually be sparring. I played football, soccer and ran track for most of my life, so I definitely consider myself to be a lifelong athlete.
