I recently graduated from San Jose State University with my Masters's in English. I also hold a BA in Gender Studies and African American Studies with a primary focus in Literary Studies from UCLA. Finally, I hold AA degrees in English and Women's Studies from Cerritos Community College.
As a student, I have taken courses ranging from Mythology to African American Literature to a Seminar on Rhetoric.
I have worked in an Undergraduate Writing Center as a Tutor helping guide students across various disciplines on how to understand their writing assignments and engage in the multiple stages of the writing process including citing in MLA, APA, or Chicago formats.
I have also worked in the classroom as an Instructional Assistant and Graduate Assitant leading discussions on various topics regarding literature. I have also taught sections about the proper steps to construct thesis statements and utilize quotations effectively for evidenced-based writing.
My recent teaching ventures have led me to learn and understand the methods for effective college admissions writing. I can help your student create a narrative about a particular moment in their lives, tell a university why they want to attend their school, or inform them as to why they want to choose that major. I have a 95 percent success rate with some of my students getting into Brown, Harvard, NYU, UCLA, and more. Whether you need help with admissions writing or help with an English course I know I can guide you through the process.
