I am a retired teacher of approx. 30 years. My experiences include teaching students in Kindergarten through grade 9 in both special education and general education. As a teacher I was responsible for teaching reading, language arts, writing, math, science, and social studies. I currently work as an instructional assistant in special education at a high school district.
When working with students, I believe it is important develop positive relationships and to consider the learning style and interests of each student. I often teach using hands-on materials, movement, visuals, and games when appropriate. I have found that these methods increase engagement and learning.
