Everybody needs someone in their corner rooting for them when it comes to learning, studying, applying to colleges, and prepping for tests/exams. My energy (I'm the hype woman of my group of friends), patience, warmth, and empathy make me the perfect teammate when it comes to tackling tough material and my 6 years of childcare experience with 2 to 12yos makes me a gentle (+ fun!) educator. I have experience working with students who have ADHD, Dyslexia, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder.
As a Boston College Junior double-majoring in Psychology and Philosophy, I know what it takes to achieve academically as a student.
I tutor a variety of subjects, but I am especially qualified and interested in the following by age group:
HIGH SCHOOL: College Apps, Biology, English, and Spanish.
MIDDLE SCHOOL: Math/Science, History/Social Studies
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL: All subjects.
After tutoring High School AP/Biology and English (essays are my specialty -- I write a paper every week for Philosophy), I worked in a Kindergarten classroom helping students write, read, and count, particularly those students with learning differences like dyslexia and ADHD.
I then graduated from The Wheeler School in 2018 with a 3.99 GPA, 2 NCBI Publications in Molecular Biology, varsity letters, 3 club presidencies, 3 academic awards from the faculty, and acceptances to Georgetown University, Notre Dame, Fordham, and Boston College (where I attend school now). I believe that standardized tests are puzzles that anyone can crack. I took my tests once each and received a 34 ACT and 1480 SAT.
In my first year of college, I volunteered 8hr/week at an after-school program for a family shelter called Casa Nueva Vida and tutored PreK and 2nd7th grade. I took a course in Teaching Elementary Mathematics that has made me very confident when tutoring PreK5th grade and has applied to my most recent tutoring jobs with students in preK, kindergarten, and second grade.
I have worked with College Students by proofreading papers, walking them through the process of writing a research paper, thesis, or close-reading, and studying for topics in Biology and Psychology.
I love working with students of all ages and cannot wait for us to have many "Aha" moments together!
