I am a Master of Science graduate of Stanford University (Petroleum Engineering, class of '04, on graduate fellowship). I also further earned a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin (class of '13, on endowed scholarship). Prior to that, my Bachelor of Science degree was in Mechanical Engineering (class of '98, with honors) from The University of the West Indies. The subjects I enjoy tutoring are anything STEM-related, in particular: Math, Advanced Math, Science and Engineering Courses. With a wide range of educational background and courses I can effectively teach, I am most comfortable with students wanting to focus on improving their understanding of key concepts, who knows their weaknesses and who would substantially benefit from our engagement by way of lots of examples and learning by doing (practical-focused tutoring). I am a patient tutor and a good listener. In terms of educational and tutoring experience, I have spent quite some time in college tutoring students (both undergrads and grads) as part of teaching assistant and graduate lecturing. In my view, tutoring is not only an excellent opportunity for extra earnings in relation to my day job as a consultant in the oil and gas industry, but it is also an opportunity to help students who are passionate about learning and who really want to do their academic best and give their best effort in their coursework or any subject they need help with.

Outside of work and family, I code a lot in C++ and write engineering software, and volunteer/serve on the boards of different local and international engineering societies. I am also a Stanford Ambassador and designate Alumni Interviewer for the Houston region for those high school seniors pursuing admission to Stanford. Personally, I enjoy playing soccer, cricket and going on long hikes. I am also a bit of a puzzle enthusiast, regularly play the Tabla (hand) drums and there is literally no movie I have not seen.
