I am a senior in physics at Clemson University with minors in chemistry and mathematics. I have worked with Fiveable writing study guides in both AP Chemistry and AP Calculus and also have done a few live streams. I tutor all mathematics from junior year in high school (ie. Pre-Calculus) to the end of sophomore year in college (ie. Differential Equations and other math electives such as Statistics), as well as introductory physics (calculus-based, algebra-based, and high school) and introductory chemistry (university, AP, and high school). My favorite subject to teach is calculus, though, because calculus is rich in its connections to other subjects, which allows a wide range of students to enjoy it compared to other math like geometry. My teaching philosophy is to work from the ground up as I believe the fundamentals in any subject (though most especially within quantitative STEM) are crucial to moving forward. My tutoring style is usually reviewing a subject, giving questions, and then watching students do the problems themselves, correcting and/or suggesting along the way. I find this to be the most effective because it increases confidence in problem-solving while allowing students to run through their own learning processes rather than through a different algorithm that was given to them.
