I am a senior at the University of Pittsburgh, where I am Majoring in Music on the Jazz Track. I have always wanted to be a tutor, but have never had the courage to start. I love tutoring because I think people can achieve a lot when they are given personalized attention. I mainly tutor math subjects before Calculus. Math is important to me because it is so concrete of a discipline that has so many potential applications in the real world. I also tutor saxophone, which I have been playing for over 8 years. I have performed at the Navy Band Saxophone Symposium, and toured internationally with a small jazz ensemble. For all the subjects that I tutor, my philosophy is the same: help not give. When tutors allow students to work through a problem to the best of their ability and give as little help as possible, it allows the student to be that much better at solving the next problem.
