I'm a graduate of Vanderbilt University where I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Psychology as well as a minor in Flute Music Performance. Since graduating, I have been an Education Volunteer for the Peace Corps where I designed and implemented reading interventions as well as assisted the school in improving their programs. I have also worked in designing STEAM outreach programs for children in elementary school through early high school for a local Science and Art museum. I am available to tutor a wide range of subjects, primarily early childhood, elementary school, and middle school subjects but am also available to tutor math through algebra. While I am passionate about all subjects, I have really enjoyed working with students on reading and phonics. I've worked with a wide range of students with a wide range of abilities and within a wide range of environments so I really try and personalize my approach for the student and their environment. I also use positive reinforcement and games to make learning exciting and engaging, because especially with younger students maintaining engagement is very important. In my spare time I enjoy reading a wide variety of books, baking, cooking, and spending time outside, usually hiking.
