I was educated in Colorado and ultimately transferred to New Mexico State University in Las Cruces where I graduated in 2003 with my Bachelors in Accountancy. I was working as a Financial Advisor with Smith Barney as I graduated with my MBA in Management from New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas. I began my career in public accounting in 2005 in Roswell, New Mexico where both of my daughters were born. I have worked for CPA firms since ranging from 120 employees to 12 employees. Annual revenues of these firms ranged from $12 million to $1.8 million. I owned my own firm for a few years and most recently was a Senior Tax Manager for a local boutique firm.
For those CPA exam candidates
I believe that there is no substitute for hard work and time at the desk! If you want to be a CPA then strive for the top 10%. We do this by putting in the time and preparing for all aspects of the exam as well as the career! There are absolutely no shortcuts in preparing for this exam. I always tell students it doesn't matter what study materials you buy, as long as you have full access to the whole program for the part you are taking and work it exactly as instructed. Each part of my exam experience took me an 20 hours a week minimum for 7 to 9 weeks.
Never give up and you will pass the exam, trust me folks ya'll got this.
