As both an artist and a theorist, I am interested in animation studies as a way to understand the relationship between practice and theory. Academically, I primarily do research on Japanese animation, with my specialties in representations of gender and sexuality and real/unreal spaces, particularly in the works of Ikuhara Kunihiko. I am also a creative writer and love books (including collecting old books!). I am currently working on a big animated novel about gender and mental health. Feel free to ask me about it! :) I love playing games, both video games and table top, and I've been spending most of my days lately perfecting my island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. I also love to sing, draw, and cook! I have two cats named Jerry and Huey that may also make appearances during our sessions!
