I am a senior at Washington University in St. Louis. I am majoring in International Relations with a minor in English, and plan to attend law school after graduating in the spring of 2021. During my time in university, I have spent a semester training to become a facilitator for social justice topics and discussions on campus. I received bias training and learned different approaches and tactics for teaching and facilitating discussions, which allows me to create a safe, accepting, flexible, and open learning environment. Furthermore, I am a native Spanish speaker who has developed a passion for literature, writing, and the English language as a whole. I was the editor-in-chief of my high school yearbook and worked with ESL students during my junior and senior years of high school. I strongly believe that each and every person is 120% capable of achieving anything, especially academically.
My approach to tutoring is to make sure concepts come across as accessible, regardless of their complexity, and to ensure that we always return to topics the student has struggled with. I try to focus on the student's confidence, because I believe confidence is conducive to creativity and critical thinking. I aim to create an inclusive, safe learning environment where any and all students feel free to express themselves and explore different problems creatively, regardless of the subject they are focusing on.
I have experience instructing kids ages 3-15 in figure skating, and my time as yearbook editor and as a college peer facilitator has also given be experience with young adults and teens (ages 15-21).

Writing is and always has been my passion. Upon moving to the U.S in the third grade, I immediately began reading books and writing stories. I have been a writer ever since, and hope to publish a book in the near future. In high school, I was a competitive figure skater, which helped me increase my physical health and my mental discipline. I discovered a love for photography, especially surrealism, my junior year of high school and now aim to combine my photos with my writing.
